BPB-EI Category E1 - Accredited Certifier - Swimming Pool Certification
This course is intended to provide participants with a range of knowledge, skills and competencies to perform the following job role:
- Category E1‐ Accredited Certifier‐ Swimming Pool Certification (E1 Certifier).
The course will also provide part of the evidence required to apply to the NSW Building Professionals Board for a certificate of accreditation as a NSW Category E1 certifier.
Our course has been approved by the Building Professionals Board (BPB) and is suitable for use for accreditation.
This course will be delivered as a combination of face to face learning, with a practical component. All candidates will be required to undertake a practical assessment and written examination as part of the 4 day face to face component. A take home assignment is also required to be completed and returned prior to completing the course.
Audience
To be eligible to apply to become an E1 Certifier, candidates must attend an approved course (such as this course) and hold one of the following:
- An unconditional certificate of accreditation in Category A4‐ Accredited Certifier‐ Building Inspector;
- Endorsed contractor’s Licence issued under the Home Building Act 1989 which authorises, or includes the authority, for the holder to construct a swimming pool or to construct structural landscaping;
- Qualified supervisor’s certificate issued under the Home Building Act 1989 which authorises or includes authority for the holder to construct a swimming pool or construct structural landscaping; or
- Have two years’ recent practical experience working for a local council carrying out the inspection and certification of swimming pools and child resistant barriers for compliance with the Swimming Pools Act 1992, the Swimming Pools Regulations and the relevant Australian Standards for swimming pool safety. This experience must include the inspection of not less than 20 different swimming pools and associated child resistant barriers for compliance with Part 2 of the Swimming Pools Act 1992.
Timeframe
The course will be delivered face to face over four days. The course also includes a mandatory open book exam, and a practical assessment on the last day.
In addition to this, it is necessary to complete an assignment after the 4 day course concludes on an existing pool of your choice, prior to a certificate of completion being issued.
Prerequisites
A letter of eligibility to enrol in this course must be obtained from the BPB prior to your place being confirmed in the course.

Assessment
There is a requirement to complete a take home assessment which is to be submitted, marked and to a satisfactory standard, prior to a certificate of completion being issued.
